Bush Goes into Gaffe Overdrive in Australia

President Bush was in fine form at the APEC summit in Australia. He called APEC "OPEC," referred to Australian troops as "Austrian troops," and then walked off in the wrong direction and nearly plunged off the stage. (Watch video clip)
This coming a day after another embarrassing episode in which a comedian dressed as Osama bin Laden managed to get within yards of Bush's hotel. (Watch video clip)
For those of you keeping score of presidential bloopers, our gaffe-prone leader has groped Germany's chancellor, fallen off a Segway scooter, cursed with his mouth full of food, danced like a zombie, dated Britain's Queen Elizabeth back to 1776, tried to walk through a locked door, slammed his head on Marine One, dropped his dog, desecrated a flag, choked on a pretzel, asked for a potty break, not to mention being violated by a turkey and outwitted by an umbrella.

At this point, we as a nation should sigh an enormous breath of Sweet, Sweet Relief when President George “Gaffesquad” Bush visits a foreign country and doesn’t accidentally set it ablaze or drop a baby in a vat of nuclear waste. This is the Low Expectations Presidency, people: Set the bar on the ground and back away from it slowly.
