John McCain, Inventor of the BlackBerry

Funny McCain Pictures Al Gore may have invented the Internet, but did John McCain invent the BlackBerry? A McCain spokesman says so:

"He did this," McCain adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin boasted to reporters, holding up his BlackBerry. "Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce Committee. So you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that's what he did."

The McCain camp is being widely mocked for the claim, most notably by Obama spokesman Bill Burton, who began sending emails with the signature line, "Sent from my BlackBerry Wireless Handheld, a miracle made possible by John McCain."

Comedy.com offers 6 reasons why McCain could not have invented the Blackberry, and 23/6 has a picture of what the Blackberry would have looked like had McCain invented it.

Speaking of gaffes, McCain aide Carly Fiorina had another doozy. She said Sarah Palin isn't qualified to run a major corporation. Then, in defending her remarks, Fiorina said McCain wasn't qualified to run a corporation either, thus violating the number one rule of holes -- when you find yourself in one, stop digging.

You “forgot” to include the rest of Fiorina’s assertion, which went on to say that Obama and Biden couldn’t run a corporation either. But you didn’t really forget. By your omission, you didn’t tell the truth either. Pathetic.

Re: Bush doctrine. There is no one thing that represents the Bush doctrine. So Palin’s and Gibson’s comments were both accurate. They were also inadequate. I notice you don’t present it either, and doubt you could do so. Still proud of yourself?

If Fiorina’s comments were so defensible, why has she now been sidelined as a spokesperson for the campaign and why was McCain so infuriated by what she had to say? This is also someone who was ousted from Hewlett Packard because she apparently couldn’t handle the job, so let’s keep her comments in perspective.

I think the other commenters missed the part about this being a SPOOF. I thought it was hillarious, and there’s a good chance I’ll reset the tagline to my Blackberry to match Obama’s!

Keep doing what you’re doing. I love political satire, so you can count on me checking in from time to time to read new content. This site reminds me of vanderbites.com and borowitzreport.com; both of which are full of these fake news stories.

Q: What did Sarah Palin do when she heard the market crashed?
A: Ran down to Safeway to help drag out survivors.
