World Leaders Refuse to Shake Bush's Hand

Thursday November 20, 2008
No One Likes George Bush Adding to the long litany of Bush embarrassments, world leaders snubbed lame-duck President Bush at a G20 photo-op by refusing to shake his hand. Watch video of the pariah-in-chief filing past a line of leaders while hanging his head in apparent shame.

And here's another video of our sad president set to music from "A Charlie Brown Christmas." (Hat tip to Best Week Ever)

As CNN's Rick Sanchez put it, Bush looks like "the most unpopular kid in high school that nobody liked."

It's no wonder. In addition to presiding over a global financial meltdown and a disastrous war, Bush will be best remembered by his international counterparts as the guy who showed up at summits and groped Germany's chancellor, cursed with his mouth full of food, addressed the Italian prime minister in Spanish, and capped everything off by bidding "goodbye from the world's biggest polluter."

Poll: What phrase best describes your opinion of President Bush?

1) Strong leader
2) Miserable failure
3) Honest straight-talker
4) Arrogant liar
5) Christian patriot
6) Clueless moron
7) Disastrous decider

Actually in this case CNNs Rick Sanchez managed to make an utter idiot of himself…I wonder if he will take the time to eat some crow as well…

Bush and his handlers are so dysfunctional that they can’t even stage a photo-op anymore. Even is he had shaken hands with everyone before, why not do it again for the cameras? Bottom line is, it looked bad to have the president of the United States out there not exchanging courtesies, even if no sub was intended.

If protocol is about anything, surely it is about appearances. So however you want to slice it, the protocol (if that is what determined this tableux) did not take into account how this would appear??!! Very strange….

As painful as it for us Americans to face it, it was pretty clear to me that Bush was being rejected and he looked the part. With one of them, he actually looks up, expecting an extended hand. Not getting it, he clearly slumps his shoulders, just like a boy at the school dance who was turned down for dance by a girl.

(6) JJ says:

This story was pretty clearly bogus, as Bush had already shaken hands with each leader individually as they arrived. However, they had all arrived individually and did not have a chance to greet each other, only Bush. Not all of them greeted each other in this scene, either. It’s just a non-story. Bush will get dissed plenty for real from here on out, we don’t have to manufacture pretend instances to satisfy our longing for revenge.

(7) Doug says:

People can spin it any way they like, but the video clearly shows NO ONE trying to greet Bush, shake his hand, or even look at him, as they greet everyone else.

This story has been retracted by CNN. They also showed plenty of video of Bush and the leaders slapping backs and shaking hands. There was no snubbing.
