One week after his legendary takedown of Jim Cramer and CNBC, Jon Stewart responded to the host's complaint that he was taken out of context.
Cramer claimed he never recommended buying Bear Stearns stock a week before it collapsed, as a clip Stewart played from CNBC's "Mad Money" suggested. Stewart countered by doing what he does best – smacking him upside the head with video tape.
"I apologize," Stewart said, "that was out of context, technically you were correct, you weren't suggesting to buy Bear Stearns. That was something you did five days earlier, in your buy and sell segment."
Cramer went on The Today Show to defend himself by saying, essentially, that he gets paid to be wrong, and that Stewart is a comedian who "runs a variety show."
Update: After NBC steps up to defend Jim Cramer, Jon Stewart goes on an MTV Networks rehabilitation tour of his own.

Honestly, they’re both wankers who say outrageous stuff to get a response. Cramer calls his show “Mad Money” for a reason and as for Stewart, well it’s easy to flame people if it’s what you’re paid to do. These two were made for each other.
and why did steward try to eat cramers brain!? BRAIN! BRAIN!
Cramer might be a kooky crook, Limbaugh too, but their rants are funny as hell when layered w/ an old skool cool hiphop beat! We would like him to be on the air forever.
Here’s a cool and silly hiphop remix of the whole Cramer rant on morning joe! Funny funny funny feat Rush Limbaugh as Limbaugh(hippo)potamus
