Brawl Street: Jon Stewart Hammers Jim Cramer

Friday March 13, 2009
Jon Stewart vs. Jim Cramer In the culmination of their "week-long feud of the century," Jon Stewart tore apart CNBC's Jim Cramer during an appearance on The Daily Show. (Watch video)

"I understand that you want to make finance entertaining, but it's not a f***king game," Stewart told Cramer, who looked like a deer in headlights as Stewart accused the CNBC host and his network of being irresponsible cheerleaders in the lead-up to the stock market meltdown.

The much-anticipated face-off came after a week of back and forth sniping between the two hosts, following Stewart's now legendary takedown of CNBC.

It was the most brutal drubbing Stewart has given to a squawking head since he went on Crossfire in 2004 to accuse Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala of being "partisan hacks" who were "hurting America" (which ultimately led to the cancellation of the show).

Read highlights and watch video of the Stewart-Cramer interview in all of its awkward, yet highly entertaining glory. (Note: the Web video is in three parts and contains unaired outtakes that were cut from the TV broadcast.)

I love Jon Stewart but I truly feel he treated a gracious (to have come on the show)Jim Cramer poorly although he could have stuck up for himself better. Anyone watching CNBC expecting to get great financial advice is a fool. It is what it is… a cheerleader for Wall Street. Ambushing the one guy who had the balls to show up on the Daily Show to say he was sorry for missing the meltdown was out of charactor for Stewart. His anger needed to remain focused on Rick Santilli who showed no compassion for those who’s only mistake was trying to buy a house they were led to believe they could afford.

Jim Cramer deserved everything he got. Jon Stewart is the modern Edward R. Murrow.

Cramer might be a kooky crook, Limbaugh too, but their rants are funny as hell when layered w/ an old skool cool hiphop beat! We would like him to be on the air forever.

Here’s a cool and silly hiphop remix of the whole Cramer rant on morning joe! Funny funny funny feat Rush Limbaugh as Limbaugh(hippo)potamus

It was obviously important to Stewart, he dropped the comedy completey. I like that about Stewart, I think he´s great.
