William Shatner Recites Palin's Tweets as Poetry

Thursday July 30, 2009
Williams Shatner Reads Palin's Tweets William Shatner performed a dramatic reading of Sarah Palin's Tweets during another brilliant performance on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien." Shatner's hilarious poetic interpretation of Palin's rambling farewell speech was so popular that Conan invited him back to help translate Palin's nutty Twitter posts.
"From sea life near lush wet rain forest / To energy housed on broken tundra atop permafrost / God most creatively displays his diversity in Alaksa"

"Tourists from across America / Here loving their 49th state/ I'm reminded one heart, one hope, one destiny / One flag from sea to sea"

"Awesome Alaska night / Sensing summer already winding down/ With fireweed near full bloom / Finally sitting down to pen/ Listening to Big and Rich

"Left Unalakleet warmth for rain in Juneau tonite / No drought threat down here, ever / But consistent rain reminds us: "No rain? No rainbow!" (Watch video)
When you're a master thespian like Shatner, 140 characters is all that's needed to stage a brilliant poetry slam.

Once again, this was hilarious. Normally Palin’s ramblings make my head hurt, but bravo to Conan and Shatner for making them so much fun.

Too bad she stepped down. This Shatner reading Palin could have gone on for a long time. Maybe she’s going to start reenacting old Star Trek episodes.

Shatner could have done all of these parodies SO MUCH better if he just did them as more self-satire, as he does on the Priceline commercials.
That tells me that Conan’s directors are not that good.
Might be why I don’t watch him.
The jokes are good, but the execution fails.
I watched Craig Ferguson last night (Dennis Leary) and I laughed so hard my Cat ran downstairs and shat in her litter box while I was shatting on the couch..
Best,
