The Election's Over -- The Winner Is?

About's Political Humor Guide Picks This Year's 'Dot-Comedy' Winners

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- About, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: BOUT) Political Humor Guide, Daniel Kurtzman announces the winners of the first annual awards competition recognizing the best political humor on the Net. Modern Humorist and Comedy Central's Indecision 2000 Web sites are among the top winners. Additional winners can be found at: http://politicalhumor.about.com.

The Indecision 2000 site, loaded with gems from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, was voted the "People's Pick" for Best Overall Site and for Best Election 2000 Coverage. The highly imaginative and bitingly funny humor magazine Modern Humorist was Daniel Kurtzman's pick for Best Overall Site and for Best Election 2000 Coverage. Modern Humorist also picked up the award for Best Satirical E-zine.

"The 2000 election brought some amazingly talented satirists and humorists out of the woodwork and showcased Internet comedy at its best," said Daniel Kurtzman, About's Political Humor Guide and creator of the Dot-Comedy awards. "The comic geniuses behind these award-winning sites rose to the occasion during this wild election year and really elevated online political mockery to a celebrated art form."

The 2000 Political Dot-Comedy Awards were created in recognition of the increasingly influential force political humor has made on the American political scene, as well as the fact that a record number of people turned to cyberspace in search of not only political news and information, but also comic relief.
