By , About.com Guide

A look back at President Obama's most embarrassing moments from his first year in office.

1. Obama Says Cop Acted 'Stupidly' in Arresting Professor

President Obama stupidly inflames racial tensions by saying that police in Cambridge, Massachusetts, "acted stupidly" in arresting a prominent black Harvard professor after a confrontation at the man's home. He later invites them both to the White House for a beer summit.

2. Obama Makes 'Special Olympics' Gaffe on Leno Show

During an interview with Jay Leno -- the first time a sitting president ever appeared on a late-night comedy show -- Obama proved why comedy should be left to the professionals. After Leno asked him whether the White House bowling alley had been "burned and closed down" in light of Obama's gutter ball disaster on the campaign trail, Obama said, "No, no. I have been practicing...I bowled a 129. It's like -- it was like Special Olympics, or something."

3. Obama Gives Gordon Brown a DVD Set

During their first meeting, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave Obama an ornamental pen holder carved from the timbers of a Victorian-era anti-slave ship. Obama gave Brown a box set of 25 classic American movies on DVD, which reportedly didn't even work.

4. Obama Cracks Joke at Nancy Reagan's Expense

In his first press conference after being elected, Obama says he already spoke with all the living presidents, and then clarifies that by adding, "I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any seances."

5. Obama Bangs Head Boarding Marine One

President Obama knocks his noggin while turning to wave as he boards his helicopter.
