New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino's entire campaign has been a train wreck, but no moment was more disastrous than when he appeared alongside Hasidic Jewish leaders to deliver an anti-gay rant. He said there is "nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual" and warned against gay pride parades "brainwashing" children.
It got worse from there for Paladino, whose gay nephew was so ticked off by the whole thing that he announced he was quitting the campaign. Paladino then half-heartedly apologized for the gay-bashing, saying he was just handed a script to read, at which point the rabbi who had endorsed him withdrew his endorsement. Worse still, Paladino was exposed as a flaming hypocrite when it was revealed that he is the landlord of two gay night clubs.
For some reason, he's only down by 36 points in the polls.
