In what may be one of odder political developments in recent years, former Vice President Al Gore has suddenly attained rock star status in liberal political circles. As he touts his gripping new documentary about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth, Gore has been winning rave reviews, not only for the film, but for the wry comic persona he has been cultivating.

Some pundits have been gushing about how the so-called "new" Gore is surprisingly funny and freewheeling, as evidenced by his hilarious appearance on Saturday Night Live earlier this month.
