The English Language Has Become 'Obamafied'

By , About.com GuideFebruary 21, 2008

Follow me on:

Encyclopedia Baracktannica "Obamania" has swept the nation, turning Barack Obama into a "Barackstar" and a linguistic force to be reckoned with. Now, with the help of Slate's Encyclopedia Baracktannica, you can see words that have been "Obamafied." A sampling:

Baracklamation: Anything that Barack Obama says.
Obamatose: In a deep slumber, dreaming of Barack Obama.
Barackwurst: A short, thick, Obama-themed snack.
Barackupied: Unable to think about any politician other than Obama
Baraccoli: Essential part of the diet of an Obama supporter
Barackintosh: Any computer used to further the cult of Obama
Obamamatopoeia: An excellent Obama impression
Obamazon: A passionate female Obama supporter

So the English language has become much more obamic than it was? Which must surely mean a rise in obamicity.
