Bush's Best Moment In Office? Catching a Fish
Monday May 8, 2006
Asked to name his "most wonderful moment" in office during an interview with the German newspaper Bild, President Bush had this to say:"I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound largemouth bass in my lake."
It brings to mind Bush's equally idiotic response from a couple of years ago when he was asked to name the biggest mistake he'd made, and he said this:
"I wish you'd have given me this written question ahead of time so I could plan for it…I'm sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with answer, but it hadn't yet….I don't want to sound like I have made no mistakes. I'm confident I have. I just haven't — you just put me under the spot here, and maybe I'm not as quick on my feet as I should be in coming up with one."

Find out how other presidents answered the question about their best moment in office, plus watch a tribute to "Great Presidential Moments," courtesy of the Huffington Post's Contagious Festival.
Bill Maher: "A German publication did an interview with the president and asked Mr. Bush what was his best moment of his presidency, and he said it was the day that he caught a 7.5 pound perch. I couldn't make that up. Now, he leaves out the part that he was fishing in downtown New Orleans."
Maher: "No, he was fishing on his ranch. He has a manmade lake that is artificially stocked with fish, and let's not forget the scuba divers who are under there who actually put the fish on the hook for him. And then Cheney comes over and they literally shoot fish in a barrel. The part I love is that he says he caught a 7.5 pound perch, when the biggest perch on record is 4.3 pounds. Bush lied and a fish died, that's all I have to say. And Cheney went even further. He said when they pulled the fish out of the water it greeted them as liberators."
Jay Leno: "President Bush said catching a 7.5 pound fish was his best moment since becoming president. You know the sad thing, a lot of historians would agree with that."

I remember watching bush give a speech pn CNN when somone asked about Brokeback Mountain and Bush said “but I haven’t seenit” twenty times. “I know a lot about ranching, but i haven’t seen it”. My favoirte Bushism of all.
Reminds me of the time he was asked to name the biggest mistake he had made and couldn’t think of anything. He said:
“I wish you’d have given me this written question ahead of time so I could plan for it…I’m sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with answer, but it hadn’t yet….I don’t want to sound like I have made no mistakes. I’m confident I have. I just haven’t — you just put me under the spot here, and maybe I’m not as quick on my feet as I should be in coming up with one.”
My favorite is still this one:
“There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” —President George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

I think I have to back Bush here. Catching that fish does sound like the best thing he’s done since he’s been in office.
I’ll bet he’s lying about the size of that fish, too.
I’ll bet the fish also greeted him as a liberator.
Not to mention, it took bush 7 MINUTES to say that the worst momment in office was 9/11
That George is seeking solace in his boyhood is not surprising: he has now been abandoned by the scoundrels who put him up there in the first place. Rumsfeld heads for a comfortable retirement, Cheney will just get out of town as quietly as he can, Perle has already slipped away, Wolfowitz has died and gone to the world bank….And it is clear that in a sense, he was never really President at all….yeah. Go fishing, George.
